Fillings, root canal therapy, and gum disease treatments may be used to restore the health of a sick or damaged tooth. However, there are times when extraction is required because of reasons such as:
• Advanced decay that has weakened the structure of the tooth
• Gum disease has spread to the supporting tissues and bone.
• Injury to the tooth
In addition to these causes, extractions may be performed for orthodontic purposes or the removal of wisdom teeth, particularly when impacted teeth or overcrowding inhibit normal alignment of adult teeth.
